Paying Resident Family Members using IF

What has Changed?

Funded Family Care, sometimes referred to as FFC, has changed on 14th April 2020.  As of 31st August 2020 it will be no more. In its place will be Individualised Funding offered by the Ministry of Health and some DHBs. Anyone who wishes to continue to receive paid care by their whānau can do so by signing up to receive Individualised Funding with Manawanui. What’s great is that now Manawanui can offer a support service to manage your funds, as well allow your whānau a break while you pay for support from a range of options including your own employees or contracted care.

Am I eligible to pay a Resident Family Member?

During your assessment with the NASC your needs level will be identified as High or Very High needs.  Manawanui will need to be informed of this by the NASC through the Service Authorisation, referral form or email confirmation. Once we have confirmation from the NASC we will enable you to set up your whānau as paid carers in our systems.

Payment to a family member that lives with you is only for the household management and personal care portion of your IF allocation.

How to get started?

If you already have Individualised Funding with Manawanui – Just ask us to have a look at your Service Authorisation that is on record.  We will be able to let you know if you are eligible.

If you are new to Individualised Funding – You will first need to speak with your NASC about your assessment and have a referral to Manawanui.  We will get you started and set up to pay a family member using IF.

To get started with Manawanui, an eligibility assessment by the Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) organisation is required.  If you think you may be eligible for paying a Family Member using IF, please connect with your NASC organisation to arrange an assessment.

Once you have been assessed, and if approved by the NASC, ask to be referred to Mananwaui. This is where we come in.
