Funding
You might be fully government funded, have government and some private funding, or fund your services privately. If you fund your services privately then you can design your service however you want with no restrictions. If you are using government funding, then you will under one of the following funding programmes.

Individualised Funding (IF)
With IF, you are allocated support hours which are then translated to an annual budget. You
then choose how/what you spend it on. Together with a Manawanui Coach, you develop a service
plan about what you want your support to look like and how you’re going to achieve this.

Enhanced Individualised Funding (EIF)
If you live in the Bay of Plenty region, then you may be able to access EIF.
EIF takes the idea of personalised budgets one step further, by allocating funding so a
disabled person can choose to spend it on disability supports that help them achieve their
goals rather than have to spend it on a specific service.

Enabling Good Lives (EGL)
Enabling Good Lives helps people with disabilities achieve their goals. Unlike
Individualised Funding, EGL also allows people to purchase goods, as well as services to
help them pursue their goals.

Enabling Good Lives Mid Central – Mana Whaikaha
The government committed to transforming the disability support system in 2017.
The first prototype of how this new system could look went live in the Mid Central region in
October 2018. If you live in Palmerston North or the surrounding region, and you currently
receive disability supports, then you may be able to use this new type of funding. Manawanui
can provide as little or much support as you need around this.
Funded Family Care
On 1 October 2013, the Ministry of Health’s Funded Family Care Operational Policy came into effect. This
means that if you meet the eligibility requirements, then you may be able to pay a family
member to provide your support needs. In order to get Funded Family Care, you will need to
go through your NASC to see if you are eligible.
If you are eligible and wish to use Funded Family Care, then Manawanui can support you to
get things set up. Contact us on info@fass.org.nz or
on 0800 456655 for more information. Please note: we do not provide any
payment services or ongoing coaching under the Funded Family Care contract with the Ministry
of Health.
For more information about the Funded Family Care Operational Policy go to the Ministry of Health’s
website.
